New Year’s Eve Tidbits

Control the multi-tasking and fashion blunders!

Here I am making crab cakes for New Years Eve – listening to James Taylor (is this the 80’s?) Note to self – you can’t control the iTunes button when your hands are covered with Panko.

I digress – staying on my “shop local, frolic local” theme, we’re headed 50 steps away to another lake house to eat, drink and be merry with our favorite Sunapee locals. (Steve Tyler spotted at the Pizza Chef earlier this week, doubt he’s coming, darn,  great fashion blogging options there!)

Let’s talk fashion resolutions for the New Year, fitting as I head to my New Hampshire closet, loaded with what we term as ‘down time’ clothes (yes, 6 feet under is just about the right ‘down’ for these duds).

Here are my top 10 style mistakes culled from Clinton Kelly’s book, “Oh No She Didn’t” (come on Clinton, this list is not gender specific).

No photos are needed here because what you can pull from memory will be adequate (not mirror memory of course).

  1. The Mom jeans (stay tuned, I will have a ladies night out at a fabulous jean shop in the South End – ‘Mom jean’ charitable donation required as your ticket in)
  2. Muffin tops (what a visual)
  3. Track suits (they only work on Glee)
  4. Low boobies (here’s a concept, bra fitting)
  5. Socks with clogs (let’s just say clogs)
  6. Visible panty lines (another concept – Spanx)
  7. Hoodies (unless of course it is covering your high school hair-do)
  8. Jackets that don’t button (your local tailor is your friend)
  9. Polar fleece (Rover will love his new snuggly)
  10. Scuffed up heels (yes, cobblers still exist)

Finished just in time – the oven timer beeped and Chesney is playing (is it July already?)

I leave you with a thought from him.

“Don’t blink…. a hundred years go faster than you think.”

Happy New Year,

Doreen
