6 Style Strategies For Saving Your Skin

DoveGrandCanyonI spent the last 10 days in blazing sun with 2% humidity. Oh the beauty of Santa Fe, Sedona, The Grand Canyon and Scottsdale! Water please!!!

We dressed smartly and hiked daily. Things I learned – cover everything, wear sun protection clothing, make sure it is lightweight enough to allow you to survive 103 degree temps and make sure it is hotel-sink-washable so you can do it all over again the next day.

I have to admit I shopped wisely and asked questions along the way so my clothing would perform and of course be somewhat stylish so the digitals would not end up in the delete file.

When shopping for summer style trends, our skin is not usually a top consideration, until you are exposed to the blazing sunshine and then it might be too late.

Here are the top six summer body concerns that come across my desk and a few sun protection options that also offer up the benefit of disguising the liabilities!

Solumbra Women’s Ruched Pullover

1. I want to be covered but comfortable in the heat.

Solumbra – By Sun Precautions

Women’s Ruched Pullover – Made of Solumbra IV fabric and boasts a stylish boat neck, generous raglan sleeves and a soft waistband hem.

Athleta Wader Coverup

2. I am an extra-in-the-middle gal – no itsy-bitsy swimwear cover-ups for me!

Athleta – Fashionable Activewear

Athleta – Wick-It Wader Coverup

Breathable UPF 50+ Wick-It fabric in a longer-length hoodie cover-up to protect more of your skin.

Solumbra Drawstring Pants

3. I love my sassy legs but hate my spider veins.

Solumbra by Sun Precautions

Solumbra Women’s Drawstring Pants

Designed to flatter every figure with slightly flared legs, and a comfortable midrise. Perfect for summer touring.

Athleta 2 in 1 Jacket

4. My arms are a work in progress, but not yet ready to be unveiled.

Athleta – Looks that take you through all your warm weather adventures

Athleta – Energize 2-In-1 Jacket

Lightweight, breathable, and transparent. Wear it long-sleeved or zip off the top portion and wear it as a vest. I hiked with this jacket last week and used the top portion only to keep my shoulders and arms protected from the sun.

5. I am a victim of the baby oil/reflector generation – give me a bucket hat!

Crochet Beach Hat – Hidden drawstring for a custom fit, UPF 50+

Shapeable Sun Catcher Hat – Travel friendly, packable, crushable with a moisture wicking sweatband.

6. My arches fell years ago – I need a bottle of Advil after a day of sporting flat sandals.

Merrell Shoes – ready, set, explore

Terran Post – Natural flex and arch supports fights fatigue & disguises the bunions!

Veranda Ribbon – Elevate your outdoor style without sacrificing your comfort sensibility.
