New Year – New You – New Pantry Too!

AFTER

AFTER

You often hear  me say, if you need a solution to a challenge, look to outsource it.
I recently did just that. This past Holiday season I was busy styling clients as far away as the West Coast. Often times when I returned home from the airport, not only was the frig bare of my usual green things, but my pantry offered no healthy midnight solutions either. So, naturally I outsourced and hired Denise Costello, founder of The Energized Body to detox my pantry – once and done! You know how I love a makeover. Here is a bit of information from Denise to empower you!

By Denise Costello ~ The Energized Body

Does this sound familiar? You get home, walk in the door, and head straight to the refrigerator or pantry and the choices are grim! If you made a resolution to eat healthier this year, how can you make sure you are eating the right foods and not staying with the same
choices you’ve always made? By detoxing
your pantry! I know it may seem daunting, but we can do this, one step at a time. Believe me, it’s worth it 🙂
When the willpower is gone, you need healthy choices, everywhere you look. We all begin our healthy quest from different starting points. You may still be making your
sandwich with Wonder Bread and processed bologna or perhaps you have moved to whole-wheat bread and tuna, or maybe you are really ready to bump it up to the next level by adding
power foods for optimal health. Let me help you figure out how to add power foods to your pantry staples, no matter where you’re starting from.

BETTER PEANUT BUTTER CHOICES

Here is an example of how you can make a simple adjustment. The type of peanut butter you eat can lead you either down the path toward disease or toward health. Let’s take a look:

  • Skippy peanut butter contains trans fatty acids that will raise your bad cholesterol (LDL) and lower the good cholesterol (HDL): not good for the ticker! Plus, it has added sugar. A step towards health would be switching to Natural Skippy, which eliminates the trans fats. You still have added palm oil and sugar so it’s not perfect, but definitely an improvement over regular Jiff.
  • The next level for improving your health would be natural peanut butter with added flaxseed or, better yet, raw almond butter. The flaxseed has been shown to help to lower the risk of diabetes, cancer and heart disease.
  • Ready for optimal health? Transition to natural almond butter: it has less saturated fat, more fiber and vitamin E, which will take your heart to a new level of healthy.

And what works for peanut butter, works for bread and cereal, too!

If one simple change can affect your health, imagine what happens when you detox your whole pantry! Ready? No time like the present!
