Where to begin – at the beginning I suppose

wardrobe essentials grey coatI consider myself lucky to have learned the basics of style at a very early age  – 12 to be truthful.

I found myself modeling in a local fashion show, surrounded by (what my perception told me at the time), fashions’ greatest stars (in actuality, just some local ladies older, wiser and way better dressed than I).

The lesson probably was more on the topic of  “first impressions”, than fashion, but a lesson well learned none-the-less.

The lesson that day, again at the age of 12 just to give you the visual, was on wardrobe essentials – defined as:

“Does everyone have nude pantyhose (cringe), black shoes (of course a heel wasn’t even an option in that decade – more like Mary Janes), electric curlers (ouch), VO5 hairspray (cough, cough), pancake foundation (a breakfast food?), and your little white dress (thankful now it is the LBD)?”

The point being, everyone’s wardrobe essential lists need to be fine tuned to your current needs, your style, and the first impression that YOU want to make.

However, it has been a long time since that all important (snicker) fashion show and my decades of experience since then have shown me that most “wardrobe essential lists” have common denominators.
